Adamu Baikie, widely recognized as the first professor of education in Northern Nigeria, has died at the age of 94years.
The renowned academic passed away on Friday evening being 12th of December, 2025. At his residence in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Professor Baikie was a highly respected scholar, educationist and university administrator who played a pioneering role in education in the northern part of the country Nigeria. Over the course of his career, he served as a Vice Chancellor in so many Nigerian universities and also Abroad, making a significant contribution to higher education administration and policy.
His demise was confirmed on Friday, 12th December, 2025, by Major Adamu Muhammad(retd), his eldest son, in a conversation with Daily Trust.
According to Major Muhammad, the late professor is survived by five (5) children. He further stated that arrangements for the burial rites and funeral prayers would be announced in a later time.
