The Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has declared his interest to contest the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in the coming 2027 general elections, positioning himself to challenge the incumbent Senator, Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan.
The former Governor made the declaration during a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he met with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other key stakeholders from the Senatorial district.
Making speech at the gathering, Yahaya Bello said he had accepted calls from supporters to seek election to the senate and expressed his readiness to represent Kogi Central at the National Assembly. “I accept to run for Senate come 2027”, he said.
The event was attended by the Governor of Kogi state, Usman Ododo, alongside many Political leaders and community representatives. Yahaya Bello served as the Governor of Kogi State from 2016 to 2024. The Kogi Central Senatorial district is currently represented by Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, emerged victorious in the 2023 general elections.
