US president Joe Biden has endorsed his vice kamala Harris as his preferred candidate for his party.
Biden announced on his official X page on Sunday July 21st 2024, shortly after he withdrew from the November 2024 general election.
He said it was for the interest of his party and the country to focus solely and stand down on fulfilling his duties as president for his remaining tenure.
"My fellow democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it's the best decision I have made.
"Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala Harris to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats - It's time to come together and beat Trump. Let's do this ", he added.
