The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that about 22 people d!ed in the
July 12th tragedy, while 154 others were injured.Seyi made the promise in Jos on Friday, during a visit to the site were it occurred and hospital were the survivors were recuperating.
The presidents son who was represented by Belusochukwu Enwere, national chairman Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), said that the visit was to ascertain what actually happened.
He said that he was sadden by the tragedy which actually happened to claim the lives of young people.
"I am here to convey a message of hope to all those injured, wishing them quick recovery so that they can resume classes and pursue their dreams, we pray for the departed souls to rest in peace".
" I am here to see what happened first hand and report back to him. We aim to render assistance to the students ".
" We will do everything possible to ensure that the students in hospital receives proper medical care and return back to school ".
" This is sacrosanct because this incident involves the lives of students, youths, and our future, the future of our children and our country ", he said.
" While discussing with the hospital's management, they made mention of unpaid bills, and we will ensure that this bills are taken care of so that the students can be discharged without any issues ".
He also advised builders to follow due procedures and adbere to specific building standards to avoid such mishaps in the future.
Tinubu called on the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and the institutes of building to ensure enforcement of strict measures and Sanctions on those constructing hospitals, schools, or residential buildings without adherence to standards.
According to him, it will help prevent such incidents in the future.
Speaking, plateau state chapter chairman of YOWICAN, Lere Panmak expressed happiness that help was coming the way of the affected persons.
" We have also listened to the hospital management, some bills from the Yelwa Zangham att*cks during the previous administration was unpaid.
"We made commitments to the management to follow up on this issues. I am confident that the debt from the former administration will be settled by the current administration", he added.
Rev Sister Jovita Egwu, Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) administrator said that she the incident occurred, five were brought in de@d, six were treated at the out patient department, and were discharged same day.
Egwu stated that total of 22 victims were hospitalised, also adding that all those who were brought in alive are still recuperating.
