The Senate Deputy Chief Whip and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has congratulated one of his scholarship beneficiaries, Dr. Gloria Nwobodo, for emerging as one of the best graduating students of the College of Medicine, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, with multiple academic distinctions.
In recognition of her outstanding academic performance, Senator Nwebonyi announced the extension of his scholarship support to cover her postgraduate studies in any university of her choice within Nigeria.
In a statement released by Romanus Uzor Izioko, Special Assistant to the Senator on media and publicity on Thursday December 18th, 2025. Speaking on the achievement, Senator Nwebonyi said:
“I am highly encouraged by her exceptional performance, which has further motivated me to continue supporting intelligent but indigent students so that their dreams in life do not die. I am very proud of this young lady and wish her the very best in her medical career. I hereby pledge to sustain her scholarship up to her postgraduate studies.”
The Provost of the College of Medicine, AE-FUNAI, Professor P. Ezeonu, in his appreciation message, commended Senator Nwebonyi for his timely intervention, noting that the scholarship support saved Dr. Nwobodo and many other students from dropping out of school due to accumulated tuition fees running into millions of naira.
Dr Gloria Ifebuche Nwobodo secured academic distinctions in medical biochemistry, histopathology, pharmacology, microbiology, hematology and chemical pathology.
