Oluremi Tinubu, Mrs. Mbah has flagged off 2024 August meeting in Enugu State.

The wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, and the Wife of

the Governor of Enugu State, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, has flagged off the 2024 annual August meeting in Enugu State, calling for Harmony and actions against all forms of Abuse.

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the first lady of Enugu state, Remi Tinubu and Nkechinyere Mbah commended the August Meeting initiative as a veritable platform to rally women for community development, pointing that it is a reminder that individual contributions and selfless services were crucial for the progress of the Nation.

Flagging off the state's 2024 edition of the August meeting themed 'Eliminating abuse to foster a healthy society, Oluremi Tinubu who was represented by the wife of the Vice President Nana Hajiya Shetima, said, " This annual tradition provides a vital platform for you mothers, daughter, sisters to gather and address pressing societal issues, mobilising women in political participation, community building, and community development.

 "This year's theme is a clarion call to aaction. Abuse in all it's forms is a scouge that we must eradicate. Every citizen has the right to safety,free from domestic,physical,s3xual, emotional,financial, psychological,and material discrimination amongst others.

"Let us also be reminded that abuse start's and ends with us, either as perpetrators or the victims. So I there by urge us all to rose to the challenge of eliminating abuse and fostering a healthy society for all of us, we must all speak up and speak against abuse".

She encouraged Nigerians to learn to dialogue responsibly and work together to enhance a sense of empathy,compassion towards one another, also restating her intentions to better the lives of Nigerian women through her pet project, the renewd hope initiative.

She also talked about how far they worked in the education sector, the scholarship they have offered to children and youths across the country with some that had the opportunity to study abroad.

She also talked about the efforts they have made in the agricultural sector, how they have distributed fertilisers and other materials to farmers. And that her adminstration is working on disbursement of N50,000 to 1000 women each state.
