US President Biden admitts that his party Democrats forced him out of presidential race.

 

The president has opened up about his decision to quit the 2024 presidential election race.

The 81 year old Joe Biden raised eyebrows as he revealed on a letter he posted on his official 'X' handle, that be world not be seeking re-election for second tenure in office, rather he would endorse Kamala Harris to stand against Donald Trumps.

This followed weeks of increasing public pressure from top Democrats, including former President of the United States Barack Obama to drop out from the race, amid concerns about his mental fitness and age following the disastrous debate which was held on 27th June 2024.

Joe Biden appeared in an interview with the CBS New's Bob Costa on Sunday, 11th August being his first interview after he dropped from the Presidential race.

During the interview, Biden revealed that pressure from fellow democrats contributed to the decision he made.

Biden also notably name-dropped former house speaker Pelosi Nancy, with the two having not spoken for a while.

"Look polls, we have showed that it is a neck-to-neck race, it would have been down to the wire".

"A number of my fellow democratic colleague thought that I would hurt them in the race, both in the House and also Senate. And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic, you would have been interviewing me about why did Pelosi Nancy say -why did - and I thought it would be a real distraction".

" Secondly, when I ran for the first time, I saw my self as a transition president. I can't even say how old,I am - it's hard for me to get out of my mouth, and uh, but things got moving so quickly it didn't happen.

 And the combination was, that I thought it was the critical issue for me still is, not a joke, maintaining this Democracy.

"But I thought it was important because although, it's a great honour to be President, I think I have an obligation to the country to do the most important thing you can do, and that is we must, we must defeat Donald Trump".

Joe Biden, who has not spoken since he dropped from the race, also suggested during the CBS interview they may not be a peaceful transfer of power in January 2025.

He said, before correcting himself that "If Trump wins, no I'm not confident at all".

" I mean if Trump loses, I'm not confident at all. He means what he says, we won't take him seriously. He means it, all this stuff about, if we lose it will be a bloodbath, it will be a stolen election. Look what they are trying to do now, in the local elections districts were people count the votes. Putting people in place in states that they are going to count the votes, right? You can't love your country only when you win". Biden stated.

Joe Biden who claimed that Donald Trump who narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on the 13th of July was " a genuine danger to American security".

Biden then concluded by saying, "If he wins, watch what happens".
