President Biya Paul of Cameroon is set to contest for the countries presidential elections again at age 93.
Paul Biya is the longest serving president in Africa is currently 91 years old.
He will Contest in the 2026 general election for an eight term in office, and by that time he would be 93years old.
Wandera Kenedy Foreign press Association Africa founder, revealed this on Thursday, 22nd August citing theEastAfrican.
In the report which read; "Cameroon is set to hold its next presidential election in 2025, by then President Biya would be 93, and he has confirmed declaring interest in the fourth coming election.
If he eventually wins for another term, which is 7 years, he would be 100yrs by then
As per the reports,Paul Biya's decision to delay the election by a year, which was shifted from 2025 to 2026, and to allow him contest the election despite his age has caused an uproar to the oppositions in the country.
The report stated that the opposition politicians may not be allowed to contest, giving Paul Biya free win of another 7years.
Paul Biya has been serving as president since 1982 making him 42years as president, tho he served as prime minister of the country for 7 years before becoming president.
He postponed the municipal and parliamentary elections to 2026.
The countries parliament approved Biya's request last month to postpone municipal and parliamentary elections till 2026 to give some breathing space claiming that political calendar is crowded". The report ascertained.
