The Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a hard-fought victory of 1-0 over Libya on Saturday at Uyo. Moving to 7 points with just three games in the AFCON qualifiers.
Libya adopted a defensive strategy, which was aiming at a draw draw, but the Nigerian super eagles persistence paid off at they scored in the 86th minute.
74th minute substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru converted Moses Simon's cross from the left side, turning thousands of Nigerians at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium to jubilate.
The victory marked interim head coach Eguavoen Augustine second win in AFCON 2025 qualifiers. The super eagle's poor finishing and a contentious offside call had threatened to deny them the three points.
Nigeria and Libya will face off again in Benina on Tuesday in their fourth group D match.
