About a hundred distinguished African and Internationally recognised Top chief executives,world leaders, and artists have come together to sign the Abidjan Accord.
G20 government received an urgent appeal to enhance their contributions to the International Development Association (IDA).The funding from the World Bank was focused on alleviating poverty in 77 developing countries, which many of them are located in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Announcement which was made during the 'Economic Development Assembly', advancing Future of Africa, held in Abidjan Cote d'Ivoire. The Abidjan Accord specifically encourage the richest nations of the World to support Africa's development by striving towards a $120billion replenishment for the 21st funding round for the (IDA21), with a major aim of securing the best possible terms for the poorest nations by December.
Some of the notable signatories in the Abijan accord, includes High representatives from major corporations like, Intel and Cisco, alongside public sector leaders which includes, Former president of the Republic of Australia Heinz Fischer, Former Prime minister of Ireland Leo Varadka, Former United State's U.S. Treasury secretary Lawrence .H. Summers, Former Prime minister of Sweden Stefan Lofven, and Former President of Ireland Mary Robinson.
Prominent artists like, Folarin Falana, Gyakie, Femi Kuti, Aeriel Wayz,Berla Mundi, Darvi-Carmel Ingabire,Made Kuti, Jeune Lio, Stonbwoy, and others. It also featured philanthropic figures like, The former executive director of UN women Phunzille Mlanbo-Ngcuka, and the vice president of South Africa Paul Mashatile, and the ONE Campaign. Presenting partners included Bridge Water associates, Harith General Partners,and Laurel Strategies, and also Global Citizens.
