They will be an increase in price of Number plates, and Driver's licence for both private and commercial vehicles from the 1st of August 2024.
This follows Joint Tax Board (JTB) approval of new rates for the issuance of national driver's licences and vehicle number plates.
According to the Newly revised rates, vehicle owners are to now pay a minimum of N30,000 for both standard private and commercial vehicle number plates.
Also, fancy Number plate, and motor dealers number plate will cost N400,000 and N100,000 respectively, while that of Motorcycles will now cost N12,000.
Under the (JTB)revised rates, vehicle owners are to pay N15,000 for the duration of three years vehicle driver's Licence, and N21,000 for the duration of five years. Where as motorcycle owners are to pay N7,000 licence for 3years duration and N11,000 for 5years.
Also, the government fancy number plate will now cost N120,000 and government standard number plate will cost N80,000.While government fancy and standard motorcycle number plate will cost N50,000 and N20,000 respectively.
The secretary of the Joint Tax Board(JTB), Olusegun Adesokan, said that the approval for the increased rates was subject to the ability of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to constantly sensitise and educate the general public about the increase in the rates.
