The World Health Organisation (WHO) has urged all countries to refrain from travelling to Uganda on any purpose, for the time being, due to the outbreak Of
Marburg Virus Disease (MVD) in the country, which they stated that by so doing, will help in the control. The WHO also said that the directive may be potentially harmful to the affected societies and their economy.
A statement from WHO read; "In addition, travel and trade restrictions may act as a disincentive for the rapid sharing of public health data and information with and amongst the global health community, which is critical for informed outbreak response".
Some countries have adopted travel-related health measures, which involves temporarily discouraging travels to the Eastern Africa country following the outbreak in September. The World Health Organisation urged countries to act in line with the requirements of the International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005) in the spirit of global collaboration and solidarity.
